Just finished my annual read of Speed Trap for 2006. I highly recommend a periodic re-reading of this book for everyone. I always pick up on a number of points that I should emphasize more as a coach every time I read it.
Unfortunately, my memory banks only seem to remember a portion of the information provided in Speed Trap, so I have to re-read it every so often. As with the first time (back in 1991), I found it difficult to put it down after cracking it open.
[i]“The worst thing about new books is that they keep us from reading the old ones.”
I read it last week for the third time with a pen and paper. I took notes of everything i could about training and coaching and came away with about a page of notes. Im sure i also missed a lot more. I must say i enjoy it everytime i read it.
Re Annual Read of Speed Trap; I told Charlie to print on paper with shelf life of no more than 11 months. He’d be a zillionaire if he’d only listened, with everyone re-reading annually!
