Olympic track star Angelo Taylor will serve three years on probation after pleading guilty to contributing to the delinquency of two underage girls. DeKalb prosecutors dropped a child molestation charge.

Taylor, 27, of Decatur, had been accused of molesting a 15-year-old girl in December 2004. He also was arrested at a DeKalb park in January 2005 when an officer said he found Taylor naked in a car with a different 15-year-old girl. Taylor entered his guilty pleas in both incidents last week and was sentenced by Superior Judge Mark Anthony Scott to the probationary period, a $2,500 fine and evaluation for possible sex offender treatment.

Taylor’s brother, 24-year-old Corey Bernard Taylor, also pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the December 2004 incident. He was sentenced to one year on probation and sex offender treatment evaluation.

Both men were ordered to have no contact with the victims and no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16. They entered their pleas as “first offenders,” which allows them to avoid a record of a criminal conviction if they complete probation successfully.

Angelo Taylor was a star athlete at Southwest DeKalb High School and Georgia Tech.

He won gold medals in the 400-meter hurdles and 1,600-meter relay at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
