I was just wondering if anyone on this board has heard of this new university that opened up in San Bernerdino, CA. It’s a university soley dedicated to sports mangement and other sports related fields. Some of there majors are sports training and fitness, sports coaching, sports education, sports management and such. I’s just wondering if anyone heard anything about the school, as it has me interested. There website is www.americansportsuniversity.com
the admissions standards appear to be super easy and the url is a .com… i mean, most large universities have a ton of choices in sports med and exercise science, this seems a bit iffy.
I would stay away from it, I didnt look at it too closely but geez yea not even an .edu. Also most new schools usually lack accreditation, like I said I just glanced at the site, but thats usually a major concern.
There are a decent amount of school that offer good sports management programs, also a lot of schools will allow you to create a comparable program if they do not offer the program. I would say look for a school that already has a good program, I am not from the west coast, but I believe here on the east coast Maryland has a good program. Anyhow, you could just get a degree in business from a good program and add in some intern or assistantship experience and be good to go.
From my understanding most jobs in sports management often do not differentiate between sports management and regular business or management degree, plus it allows you more flexibility.
