can anyone please tell me the best agilility ladder drills to perform for a guard in ab asketball and running back in football. thanks for any help,
Yes, take the agility ladder and lay it out on your driveway, fold it over so that it makes a 90 degree bend, then fold it again so that it bends back the other way. Then leave it there for the kids in the neighborhood to play with while you go to the track to train.
is it really that worthless? im not talking about using it for sprint speed but for cutting ability etc. what hsould be doing then for this?
xlr 8,
that was a classic line from you i will never forget! greatttt…
I think the problem with agility ladders is that you will end up looking down at your feet to make sure you are in the rungs. When you are running with the football, do you want to be looking at your feet or at the defense? Hint: if you are looking at your feet, you will soon be on your back looking at stars!
If you find that any of the footwork drill patterns you would do with a ladder are worthwhile, then do them without the ladder looking forward. No need to spend $$$ on the ladder.
i know ill catch some heat for this…
i agree its not worth the money, but if you have access to one, then its not completely worthless, as long as you keep your training priorities straight. it is by no means the most important training tool you should use.
if you are going to use it, keep in mind all the things xlr8 says- if you are going to keep your head down then you wont get much benefit to translate to your sport.
there are some good hip rotation drills that i do that i like, and some that get your feet moving quick… just remember its not and shouldnt be the cornerstone of your training day.
i only use it once a week and not with alot of volume…
i do already have access to one, at my school, i wouldnt buy it. and im just using the drills as a warmup to my weight sessions. its by no means a big part of my program.
LMBO! My gosh we just had a discussion at school about the agility ladder an I told them it was useless. This quote is priceless!
