OSLO – Asafa Powell, after his impressive 9.72 seconds run to win the men’s 100m at Friday’s ExxonMobil Bislett Games, made it clear he is ready for anybody now.
Powell’s run highlighted the the third stop of the IAAF Diamond League in Oslo, Norway.
“I had a pretty comfortable race tonight. It was good start, a good finish and I’m ready to meet anybody now,” Powell told journalists after the race. Powell is expected to face big guns Usain Bolt, the world record holder at 9.58, and Tyson Gay, the second fastest man alive with 9.69, in at least two Diamond League races this season.
“I’m only just going to get better and better each competition, so I’ll definitely be in shape to beat them,” Powell said.
The race was, however, supported by a slight head wind of 2.1 m/s. Powell said he did not feel the wind.
“I did not feel the wind. I was thinking it would be legal,” he added.
