DoubleU did you have anyone record this meet? Would like to see it because your last race was pretty impressive for someone who is a new comer to the track

It’s great to loose your balance in the first 10m which is so important for this short race, and stiil can get 7.38 FAT. That shows that your first race was slow just due to the fact that it was the first!

You can go sub 7 so soon.

Good Luck

But hey what about your 6.2 in your practice??

I’m just confused…

Your coach sounds very insightful! Beginning sprinters usually give their best performance the first time around. Running a 7.00-7.10 by the end of the season would be a great accomplishment in your position. As I was trying to explain to you in another post, beginning athletes take time to develop the tools to run really fast times. Also, based on looking at your workouts, your work capacity doesn’t reflect the ability to have sub7.0 performance.

Krayzieondaline, meet times trump any time in practice. Consider the 6.2 irrelevant. The only thing that the 6.2 should tell Double U is that his handtime is approximately .80-1sec faster than his competition time. This will give him a realistic assessment of exactly how fast he is truly running in practice.

Looking at the: “i ran 2* 60 meters in 6.23 and 6.26 each, (handtimed)” which you admit accounts for a .75 differential, put you at 7.00. My point on your work capacity is based on the 120m (2x60m) total at that intensity. Your volume needs to be between 300-600m at that intensity in order to run a 7.00 consistently and possibly sub7.00 with a great race. On top of that, you don’t have any tempo work in your program! Tempo helps increase your recovery, and work capacity. This in turn improves consistency and confidence during competition.

Hope that helps…

Tibialis anterior? Do you have arch pain?

Tibialis anterior would be shin pain, I believe…

Double U, I understand where you coming from… Does your coach have you do any work on the grass? For example, some drills and tempo work can be done on the grass successfully! Anyway, your doing well considering. All the best!
