26 Weeks to Glory

Coolness. You’ve got a pretty rigerous program, there.

Good luck on the DMR record @ Stanford. Great meet, I got to run there my junior year. Met Mo Greene and Ato Boldon and the rest of the HSI guys there last year  after they won the 4x1. There are a few people running from my alma mater, Vintage of Napa. Look for Lea Wallace in the 400m (800m is her best event; 2:15.3 last year as a sophomore!) and Fletcher Carlyle in the High Jump (jumped 6’10" a couple weeks ago)… Have a good meet though man.

Wait a minute, it wyobabe42 the same girl (named gabbie if I remember correctly) that you met at the Simplot Games? Cuz if it is, thats one hell of a coincidence.

Yah, I so mo green run in the 4x1 last year it was crazy. I didn’t meet the guy, though. I should have :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s no such thing as coincidences

I told you on another thread that distance runners should group HARD workouts all together which would include: actual high intensity speedwork on the track and medium intensity workouts like progression runs, fartleks and long runs. Now all you have to do is alternate a hard day with an actual easy day. Good to see you got it on your own! Good luck

Yeah I just happened to be walking on the other side of the track and I see this huge group of people all going to this certain area… I go to it and see Mo and Ato signing autographs and taking pics w/ people… Great guys.

Week-15 Friday: Stanford Invite DAY 1

I haven’t much time, so I’ll make it sweet. Ran so-so 2:01, we got 2nd in our race. We popped off a 10:3-4-ish DMR, 3:11(BIG PR), 50.3 (PR) 2:01 (+5 off pr) 4:36 (+15 off pr)

Our miler got a nasal infection, and I didn’t “go for it”. Grrr…

Week-15 Stanford Invite Day 2

Today wasn’t much better than yesterday. I anchored the 4x800. Went out hard, 57.0-56.8 and just JOGGED the second lap. I had NO drive at all. No motivation no fire, nothing. I’ve lost “it”. Turned my back on “it”. Or maybe I’ve just… fuck I don’t know what.

2:02.

Hang in there and review it all away from the emotion of the event. Just as 1 swallow doesn’t make a summer, 1 bad meet doesn’t ruin one either

Week-15 Sunday
Workout: stretching, 30-38 minute run (no watch, or distance markers), stretching, warm shower, cheesecake and chocolate bunnies.

Didn’t want any stress today, so I just went for a run that I new was at least 30 minutes. I thought for a moment that I was going a bit fast for an easy day (kept thinking about my race so I kept speeding up), but I didn’t freak out about it, figured that’d be counterproductive to a relaxing run in the woods :stuck_out_tongue:

Week-16 Monday
Workout: Stretches, 10 min jog, 15mins of tempo/fartlek, 10 min jog, stretching, cool/warm shower, roller. Spaghetti

Didn’t want to go to the track today, so I ran up in my backyard mountains… :stuck_out_tongue: I simulated a
100+100+100
100+200+300+100
100+200+200+200
200+200+300+200
100+100+100
I used my stopwatch and ran 20 seconds, 40 seconds, and 60 seconds hard, through varing terrain and incline. Was lots of fun. My left quad near the knee flexor got a tid bit tight, and the hammy on my right leg got a bit tight too. I think they’re related.

Week-16 Tuesday (Co-Ed Relays, didn’t go)
Workout: 11min jog/run, 4 min rest, 6x200(ish) 30sec rest, 11 min jog, stretches, cool/warm/cool shower, no roller, more stretching.

I did my “backyard” intervals today. Which means I’ve returned to the “roughly” 200m measured length of “flat” groud… Hah! the incline had a definate impact on my running, but it wasn’t a hill persay… My splits were:
31,30,31,30,31,30 (I wonder which ones were uphill, gee…)

During the last 60m of the last 2 runs I got a bit of that tightness in my hammy, but it didn’t get too bad. I was able to jog it out. The scary thing was right after my run I got a pretty severe hurt in my abs (as in the muscles, not a stomuch ache) about 4 inches north of my belly button, all the way across. It took until about 6 minutes into my cooldown for the pain to recede, but by the time I got home it was gone. Didn’t feel it during my situps/crunches, either.

Week-16 Wedsnday
Workout: light stretches,35 minutes easy, stretches, warm/warm shower, stretches, soupcan roller

I got my orthotics today! yahy… yah, I didn’t get the cast kind, I got some semi-custom inserts for about 250 bucks!! yikes Dr. Schols, eat my shorts! Anyway, my run today I did with the little lightweight plastic inserts I was given to wear as I was getting used to my hard core thick rubber inserts. I think It’ll be a number of weeks before I can wear my rubber ones in my running shoes. The insoles did keep my righ ankle from rolling inwards, which made quite a difference as far my hammy gettin’ tight… (which it didn’t) However, since I’ve got inserts on both feet, and my left one is more or less normal, my left foot got a bit more sore than my right.

Cramp?

FYI $USD250 = $NZ357

It is most probably a cramp, John. I was worried that it was the kind of stumoch “pull” I got near the end of the last XC season. Oh well, it’s gone now.

3/31/05
Week-16 Thursday
Workout: 10 min jog/run, 2xBig Hill, 10 min jog/run, stretches, cold shower, stretches, soup roller
2:49, 2:57 splits

I ran the first one going out hard, and then the second one I tried to run the second half faster, but I uh… didn’t have that “gear”. Last year I did more hills than I did this year…
