degrasse is back to the arm swing and has a SB
He may be back to the arm swing, but he does not have a new SB with or without wind correction. He ran 9.99 (+3.3) in the Florida Relays in April, 10.20 (+0.3) two weeks ago, and 10.05 (+2.6) at Prefontaine. The first one is actually the SB (corrected 10.14), while Prefontaine is 10.17 corrected. A year ago he ran 9.97 at the Pac-12 Championships at UCLA and in the NCAA Championships (2 weeks from now) on the very same track as Prefortaine, he ran 9.75 with essentially the same wind (2.75). He was dead last today, with 4 USA sprinters (no Bromell) ahead of him, and if he was American he would be in serious jeopardy of not making the Olympic team.
I am not a fan of Stuart McMillan and I’m becoming less of a fan as this season progresses and the comparisons with last year become more and more stark. Yes, I know this wasn’t his choice, but that doesn’t change the reality of the situation. Maybe he should have bought CFTS, GPP Essentials, Inside The SPP, and Weights for Speed and trained by himself.
lmao, oh I agree 100%. He got the bizness today, I was just pointing out that maybe arm swing = faster times for him. Seems like he cant decide what to do. Shouldve stayed with the coach that made him. I hope he doesnt end up like jeremy wariner. JUmp ship and run slow.
You also would be surprised to know how many pro’s and guys on the verge of running fast dont know much about about how to train.
Does anyone have any news on Ryan Bailey? Is he injured again?
40 year-old Kim Collins just ran a 9.93 (+1.9) PB. This means he’s improved the M40 WR by 0.36s this year and pushed it below his own M35 WR.
anyone got a video of that…?
Remarkable time even though the wind was well over 1.9+ in that race IMHO.
BTW, I’ve seen two other vids of this race and the flags both inside and outside the stadium were whipping.

-a nice lil video documentary with good footage of his 50m training runs, he’s there in 24 and almost even 23 contacts(the one in the bend and out)
-damn his elder veteran coach must just enjoy seeing him max out in some form(these long striding 50m runs)…I think a better term to use for track athletes to use instead of the term ‘max out’(as in weight room personal records), would be to use the term ‘flow out’ when hitting personal records on the practice tracks, something akin to a flowing stream or river or rapids(water / infinite possibilities/ analogies)
Here is a channel with some of today’s races in Rome IAAF DL
gatlin was being run-down fairly fast.
I thought Webb was going to fall over at the end, in the eugene100m, since he was closing with very fast frequency on stride length. It was similar to when Adam Gemili went sub 10 in Birmingham a year ago, only thing is, gemili fell while sustaining hamstring injury.
This rome100m race, Webb seems to have his closing finish under control without looking like flailing/falling over.
The results of the other athletes do not suggest that the wind reading was off. Adam Gemili ran 10.19 (after having PBed in the 60m this year). Joe Morris ran 10.15. He ran a wind assisted 9.98 last year. The wind gauge only measures the wind going in the direction of the track. There may have been a much stronger cross-wind. You can also see two referees with flags in their hand right next to the track during the race. The flags are hardly moving.
Dang. The vid has been removed already. Yes, i saw that but I also saw the flag right behind the guys in the center of the track and other vids of the race.
Brommel PBed also in the 60m No? and still got whipped by a 40 y/o not too long ago. It didn’t help the last 40m in his last two races.
Collins after the races at the bar…“Nipsi give me the usual…I just got finished schooling some of these young punks in the 100 meters”
