LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Jan 21 DPA - The inaugural Youth Olympics in 2010 will take place in Moscow or Singapore, the International Olympic Committee said today.
The IOC said in a press release that the two cities were determined by its executive board from a shortlist of five cities, based on the report of an evaluation committee. Athens, Turin and Bangkok fell by the wayside.
The host city will be determined in a postal vote by the IOC members and announced by IOC president Jacques Rogge on February 21.
A total of nine cities were in the running at the start of the bid process shortly after the IOC Congress last July approved the Youth Olympics in which athletes aged 14 to 18 are to compete in many Olympic disciplines.
