200m

Haha, what song is going through your head at that time?

Six feet tall, used to be an ectomorph now more of a mesomorph (thanks too all the lifting from 12 years of age and up)

BW is 196 right now but when competitive and younger I was in the 180-190 range.

Cheers,

What about your foot strike pattern ?
Stride style ?
100m is the place where foot strikes looks more important than other distances, i guess.
55m -->> from Explosion,
300 and 400 are more speed endurance.

HAHAHA! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT DID THAT. I have seen video of myself and it looks like i am singing out loud…and then when i think about it, i start smiling…

I guess we must be a rare breed!

we have all read (if not you should) the lactate threshold thread where KK gives us a great insight into the 400m event.

would like to hear from Dazed and other 200m specialists about 200m specific split run sessions…

200+100 or 150+80 etc etc what served you best in the quest for the killer 200m race.

I was wondering the same exact thing and kind of started a thread here. Since there is no longer a 300 at the meet I am opneing up at on dec. 30th the 200 is now the focus as it will be all year. How about moving this discussion to this thread perhaps so theres not 3 threads on the same thing floating around? :slight_smile:

Yes, this is more or less what I meant especially as you move closer to a competition. As KitKat said in the other thread, I would prefer a S to L approach -who am I to argue with that anyway :slight_smile: - but you come from a different angle. Because of the latter, I suppose, bigger improvements can come via more specific speed endurance sessions, which could target your acceleration zone and the last 50 m of the race -a potentialy strong point for you.

These, however, have to be practised at speeds as close as possible to race speeds and a combination of -progressively- shorter split runs vs. what you are doing so far could give you this -the 150+80 m session of yours as an example.

As for mesocycles I could give you sessions that have proved consistent with race times for me, but these are from a S to L approach. I think it would be much more effective, if you could outline your thoughts till your most important competition justifying why you lay out things the way you do, as you know the OVERALL progression of your training better than any of us; the topic of split runs for 200 m for you now is only one piece of the puzzle and other aspects of your training -which we are not aware of- may affect any suggestions.

I am sure others will contribute, too, as this topic interests quite a few members at the moment!
