Not to beat this Lewis anchor to death. Can anyone tell me, that when looking at the attached video file, the time lost in switching the baton and his appeared responses to D. Mitchell is anything but negligible if nothing?
Carl and Bob Hayes both did it.

Remarkable. I wonder what Bob would have split if Richard Stebbins was encouraging him on like Mitchell did Carl. Obviously, Bob Hayes was in a race of himself!
When a guy’s running like that, he’s in a zone where he wouldn’t hear anybody or anything.
yes thats true charlie.the noise itself in that stadium nust have been electric.CL wouldn’t have heard or sen what DM was at until he looked at the replay.
the only guy i seen really mess this technique up was tim harden while doing the second leg in the wc’s i think.what a mess!
Obviously, I’d NEVER recommend switching hands on a 4 x 100m relay, but Bob and Carl were on anchor and both made the switch on the first step. Any later and rythem would be completely disrupted.
Interesting to see how tense carls face is - nothing like any of his individual races.
Looks like he is actually shouting yes to himself.
thats concentration, hes still really relaxed and flying.notice how he flies past the cuban and still pulls away from LC.
