100 mile bike ride...

Yep, earlier today, starting at 7AM I went on a 100 mile bike ride with one of the local bike clubs here in Buffalo (Niagara Frontier Bicycling Club).

I finished it in approximately 6 hours and 3 minutes. Not bad considering most people considering doing 100 miles in under 6 hours is good and considering that I’ve only been cycling for about 2 months now.

There were a couple times where I’d be hanging at the back of the pack drafting and they’d increase the speed a bit but my legs just wouldn’t pedal hard enough to keep up with them. And it also felt like I was riding directly into the wind which REALLY pisses me off (I’ve determined today that the wind sucks, period, its good for nothing and shouldn’t be around).

So yeah, if you’re a cyclist and you’re thinking about doing a Century, be sure that you have more than 460 base miles before trying the ride.

Also, if you’re curious as to why in hell I decided to get on a bike and ride for 100 miles. I wanted to see where my conditioning was for speedskaking so I can gague how much I’m able to push myself this fall in practices as well as competitions.

Hi Chris,

Nice bike ride, I assume you were on a nice touring bike? I agree, wind really isn’t helpful.
