I’d say yes.
First off; you go into the zone fresher. Second; you have many more opportunities in practice.
Third; you have the ability to always adjust to the conditions to get the most fasvourable wind etc.

so if that is the case why do fast / easy / fast?

Wouldn’t starts, easy / fast / easy and flying runs be sufficient?

FEFs have many uses, including allowing speed change and good accel work on a surface that might not be ideal, such as grass, and preventing a speed plateau from setting in early in the SPP before top speed can be developed.
