Week organization in In-Season - Example

Soccer guys are to weak from considering ‘ab work’ to be strength training…

i see some coaches start with 15, 12,10,8,6,5reps spending a couple weeks at each.

My experience is that both coaches and players (and their fans) think that prolonged periods of max strenght work will make them (the players) slower.
Maybe the reason is that soccer in itself does not provide enough stimuli to bridge the gap between strenght and force? Then, instead of questioning their own methodology, the coaches simply concludes that max-strenght is no good for soccer players.

It is for offseason.

I start with:
Core lifts: 5 reps and increasing weight every training
Assistance lifts: 12,10,8,5 reps over weeks

The solution is not that simple, cause I deal with 30 players at a time, and I do things that can be done with them. Check ‘Real Life - 30 players in one session’ thread in soccer subforum.

My opinion is that there are no need for linear system (15,12,10,8,5)

no need for linear system - why not esp for beginners?

Hope it helps.
I gave you a lot of material to read

based on the table in the first graph, why wouldnt uou have a rest day before games and after a game, like what alot a track guys do?

Because they are not track guys…
Fatigue is biggest 2nd day after a match, and a day before a match they love to have technical training. 10on10 on 1/2 of a field is pretty easy work used to ‘stimulate’ perception and quick decisions. Look at it as bench press in CF taper period.
You can give free day a two days before a match, but not a day before a match. After the training they go int quarantine (hotel)

just like american football games on sat, lite workout on sun, mon off back to practice tue-fri or pros games on sun, lite workout on mon, tuesday off. there are some colleges that have pre meet shake on fri, race on sat, post meet shake on sun.

cool, thanks for the insight

Don’t forget that most of the players, if the game is won, will get out and drink all night… Scheduling a workout at 9PM will deter some of them of doing that. Going collectivelly before and after a match into hotel (quarantine) is also good solution.
Doing tempo first day will ‘trigger’ recovery processes which wil facilitate recovery during 2nd day, while day off and then tempo will not in that degree. Thoughts on this?

Game match reports:
When the half of the season started we ‘were’ at the bottom of the list in our league (2nd national league).Fist couple of matches are ‘living hell’ - we played with clubs who are at the top of the list. We are actually struggling to stay at this league… but…

4.3.2007 We played at guests and won 3:0 with a club who is couple of places before us

9.3.2007 We played agains the first/best club in our league home. We gave goal in last minutes of the first half. We were wery strong during the first half, but then we reduced during the second. They equaled in last minutes. 1:1

17.3.2007. We are again playing with a club in top of the league list (I think third) in guests. Just heared the results: we WON 3:0!!!

The question is how much here is conditioning contribution (Charlie’s and Boyle’s infulence), how much technical/tactical work and how much 6 new players that are transitioned in our team… Anyway we have a ‘flying’ start!
