Everybody looks so happy. I wish Wallace the best. I have a few of this brand for running shoes lets see how they do with high end sprint spikes…

I remember a few years ago watching races and Tyson was the only non nike sponsored athlete out there. Now you have wallace, bolt, powell all with lesser known companies.

Adidas has always been a big sponsor of sprinters. They had Mo at the end, Ato, Donovan, Wariner, Chambers, among others. Puma had Linford, Collin Jackson, Ottey and Bolt since he came out of the womb. So I don’t think Nike is as dominant in terms of sponsorships as you make them out to be. It is interesting, however, that you should come away with that perception; it may mean that, at least in our sample of one, that Nike has been more successful in associating their brand with the athletes than the others have.

Hmm I recall seeing races a couple of years ago that seemed to be like a Nike commercial, 5-6 donning the gear.

I wonder if Nike just cant afford to have this many guys on their roster anymore OR if the companies in China are just able to pay more… A few bballers have started some sneaker lines out there and are making BIG $$$ I wonder if this will be a trend… China is certainly a world player in todays world economy and they have money to pay out… It is ironic though, how most of the Chinese athletes all wear nike kits…

China economy = Soviet economy. Inflated, fake, gov’t manipulated.

Not that ours (USA or Europe) is that much better but…as the US economy goes so does the world economy.

All countries boost up their numbers… Look at greece as an example… or even italy…

My point is that China is starting to pay celebrity athletes good money AND I dont think these younger guys are afraid of going abroad and getting it…

More prevalent in communist or socialist countries, like the ones we are discussing.

I agree with your point.
