Videos of mens and womens 100 from Jamaica Invitational. (Powells 9.84)

if i was powells coach i would say to keep injury free and the world will be in his hands.i wouldn’t change anything because his times are fantastic and will get faster.i am just saying that his technique isn’t great and has a few flaws but at the moment he is the very best

leroy burrell had major problems especially during the 91/92 season.his technique was crap,he was flicking causeing breaking thus keading to leading in front of his COG thus leading to stress on the HS.the solution was to correct the flaws through biomechanics leading to more efficent sprinting thus leading to a WR

his team had to make these changes because he had trouble but in Powells case he is flying and i wouldn’t change a thing unless something happens casuing injury after injury after injury.

leave as it be if all is well

I agree with X-Man, but to a certain extent. I was just wondering whether waiting for a setback to come will be too late for him.

Also, if something is “wrong” technically, there are more chances that this something might also go wrong under pressure (e.g., M. Jones vs. Z. Block).

Not that he might be in such a situation soon enought, but better safe than sorry.

As to how and when to tackle such “problems”, I suppose his team should know…

Thoughts?

nik you’ve really got to look at what happened to him last year and make sure ain’t won’t happen again.he is streaks ahead of everyone so far this year but has he got it when it counts!!!

thats were the big money is made.i remember a guy called daniel effiong from nigeria and he was the wrost sight i have ever seen but still he ran 9.99 not bad for a guy who literally ran like a donkey.

The site isn’t working for me.

Same for me, i guess we need to wait until tomorrow to see that, i mean, day light.

I agree. The greater the force input with good mechanics, the greater the hip height. The greater the hip height, the sooner the fully extended support leg leaves the ground after passing under the hip (BDC). The greater the speed, the harder it is to see full extention happening.

I was wondering if you could do the breakdowns from 30-50 and from 50-70? I know that you’re probably busy but if you ever get time then that would be very much appreciated.

Goat

Do you mean in real time? Because from what PJ posted, full extension is still not apparent in these frames…
Thanks!

Charlie ,do you mean the foot being forced to the track and the push of the track?

I suspect there is mre extention if there were more frames. I don’t see the frame of max extention just before lift-off (as Number 2 suggested) .

I wil say though that Powel’s a very big man and does appear to have somewhat less hip height than is expected- similar to what I remember of John Carlos

colors, is there a setting on my windows media player i can click so that it becomes clear?
