Watch out for Anna Laman, 15, fourth in the Open 1500m in 4:13. She’s only 47kg but 5ft 4in tall and is perhaps the most fluid mover in Australian track today. She’s got a big personality without being “out there”, extremely articulate and mature for her age and well mannered. She’s also cute with long braided pontyail, so she’ll get picked up by the media sooner rather than later, no doubt. She will be a huge star in years to come.

Any update on the project 400m guys training? What phase of the training are they in at this time of year?
What stage of the season is it in Australia?

last year i noticed Ben Offereins ran 44.86, along with a few other good performances from other athletes around this time of year, but then the times seemed poor in general from the oz 400m athletes during the european circuit?

Georgie Clark was like that some yrs ago. She was going to blow the world away. Seems she is stuck on the same times yr after yr after yr?

Everyone appears to have either stayed up too long (in Asia in May/June) and failed to reload, or if they went to Europe on the Australian tour they got very limited opportunhities to race and then mostly post World Cup when western Europe was caqught in the grip of cold and wet weather. Then most of these good 400m athletes went to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games which wrapped up on October 16 - very late in the 2010 season and sufficiently late to have already severely compromised the 2011 Aussie domestic season. We are seeing the results of that now with ordinary times on the domestic tour because most of the gold medal-winning men’s 4x400 squad took a break after Delhi and then began general prep while others who did not go to the Games were already in the early stages of summer competition Down Under.
