Speed stumps scientists

What is it with people who constantly want to mess with the technique of sprinters already running extremely fast?

Michael Johnson couldn’t run under 10 flat, so what does he know about running 9.6x or below?

This approach to coaching never ceases to amaze me. It shocks me how many people think that by changing one variable in an already fast athlete, that instead of causing a chain reaction with an undetermined outcome, they are magically going to “improve” the athlete in question.

Does Michael Johnson think Glen Mills hasn’t noticed this?
