The winner of this race is Hannah Cunliffe, who has a very, very bright future.
This race was at the USATF Pacific Northwest Regional meet, in Seattle, WA on July 10, 2010
My daughter is on the same track club, “Seattle Speed” that is coached by Hannah’s Father, Mike.
My daughter is in the 1st lane (Lane 2) and Hannah is in the 2nd lane (Lane 3).
Hannah runs as “youth” (age 14 1/2) in both AAU and USATF, but the team only goes to the AAU Nationals.
My poor daughter had a very tough time that day…the night before she swam for 2 hours and sat in a hot tub for an hour (I didn’t know not to, lesson learned the hard way), and you can see the obvious outcome…in fact, she even started on the WRONG leg, and a “stutter” step at that…she has never done this before…
Strange…
At the AAU Nationals this week in Norfolk, Virginia…
On Tuesday, Hannah ran a prelim 11.71 in the 100 meters!
On Wednesday, she ran a prelim 23.91 in the 200 meters!
Remember, she is only 14!
Both were huge Personal Bests…
Prevoius PB in 100 meters was 12.02
Previous PB in 200 meters was 24.55 (just set at the same USATF Regional meet on July 10).
It is amazing how her speed has increased so much in just a few weeks time.
Saturday (today) is the Finals for both the 100 and 200 meters…
We are wishing Hannah the very best!!!
