The coach in question was John Chaplin. He was allowed to resign (ie FIRED) at Washington State for cheating. A family member worked in the universities compliance department and was covering for his violations. Washington State was forced to relinquish championships won in the mid-80’s. Of course Chaplin went on to be Olympic coach and get a cushy position with USATF until he quit a year or so back. Oh, and he and Brooks Johnson are buddies.
