BRUSSELS BOASTS MOST EXPENSIVE 100M EVER BUT NO ONE IS QUOTING NUMBER$ kk.
ANYONE WANT TO TAKE AN EDUCATED GUE$$?
Brussels athletics meet chiefs were celebrating Thursday organising the ‘most expensive 100 metres ever’ after securing the three fastest men in the world for their August 27 event.
Quoted by Belgian agency Belga, meet organiser Wilfried Meert said Jamaica’s triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt, compatriot Asafa Powell and American Tyson Gay would line up for the 100m on August 27.
"It will be the most expensive 100 metres ever in the history of athletics," said Meert Thursday at a conference to promote the final leg of atletics’ inaugural Diamond League series.
“If we finally manage to have good weather, we can look forward to some world class performances.”
Jamaican sprint king Bolt is the reigning world record holder in the 100m and 200m, in times of 9.58 and 19.19sec respectively, although in the 100m Powell and Gay and not that far behind.
Between them, the trio hold the 10 fastest times in the history of the 100m.
The 14-leg Diamond League series was launched by the IAAF this season to replace the six-event Golden League in a bid to enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics by going outside Europe for the first time.
The Qatari capital of Doha will be the location for the first event on May 14 with the series concluding in Brussels on August 27.
