I don’t agree that only the type of current will determine the depth of penetration. It’s a matter of “spill over”. Current maximally contracts fibre and then spills over to the next and next etc until deep fibre is involved, provided the wave form is tolerable enough to allow for enough stim,ulus to be applied. The effects of various wave forms can have different effects and may or may not promote tetany, as you say.
