Dwain Chambers

It was great to see Chambers run the 6.42 and 6.46 60m times at the European Indoors, but since then all he has done is a 10.06 and a bunch of 10.1x and 10.2x 100m races.

I was pretty sure he would break 10.00 before heading to the worlds. He has been racing a lot lately, but he should still have popped at least one more 10.0x I would think.

Has it just been adverse conditions, or the lack of top flight competition? I would love to know what everyone thinks. I’d love to see him break 10 again.

His opportunities are limited, as the meet promoters have ganged up on him to keep him out. Telling what you know in book form is not a recipe for popularity with the powers that be.

The last few pages of the book are fun! :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s won every outdoor race bar a couple (in which he came 2nd) and if he was racing the Golden League meets he might be closer to 10.00. It’s interesting because his most recent set of races were:

20th June 10.07 +0.2 1st
21st June 20.55 -0.9 1st
24th June 10.16 (plus an earlier heat) +0.3 1st
27th June 10.22 -0.9 1st
27th June 20.50 0.0 1st

On a couple of threads recently people (possible CF?) have been discussing the benefits of packing together lots of races in a 10 day period and then big performances come later. His legs were probably heavy after that 8 day period of travelling and racing but it will probably pay off after a taper?

It’s now the 5th of July and he hasn’t raced since 27th June. Next race is World Trials next weekend where there are 3 rounds. Based on this and the fact that he’ll have competition against Williamson who has been racing well in Golden League I really do expect that Chambers will deliver a performance that we expect from 6.42 and 6.46.

Just my interpretation of everyone’s posts and his current performance.

I hope I’m in his heat :D:D:D

Yeah, good luck! I think it was one of your threads where I read this racing overload thing.

The chapter the journalist wrote makes very interesting reading.

He peaks his training very well. I have no doubt he will break 10 at the trials. IF he needs to.

I sure hope so. He has taken an ungodly amount of shit from the pious British media.

They make me sick. I hope he runs 9.8x!

It would hardly be surprising, and he also, as Charlie pointed out, is a little bit too honest for people’s taste.

Do you know if this available in ebook?

No he hasn’t. RB34 just wanted to imply that the Brits have been hard on Chambers because he is black, forgetting they have been hard on everyone who has tested positive.

Ironically, the guy who gets it the worst in the European press is a white guy who never tested positive (Lance).

That’s enough on that topic for now folks!

When is Chambers next race? And can someone post a link to it once he races?

agreed. Just suffice it to say you won’t win friends writing an expose whether you’re black, white or green.

Not sure, but I doubt it. I haven’t seen it anywhere in this format anyway.

Great run from Williamson. 10.05 into a 1.8m/s headwind and in the rain. He’s definitely in sub 10 shape.

Anyone want to take a guess at what Williamson could have run with a +2.0 wind?

10.8x maybe
