Its funny because i was speaking to coach at a top 3 football school, and he said they dont train speed much bc most of speed is genetics and over 3-4yrs how much improvement will they really make instead he will focus more on the strength and explosive power development along with conditioning. A typical week for them last summer was:
mon: weights and conditioining
tue: long dym warmup
wed: weights and karate or easy warmup
thur: speed and agility
fri: weights and conditioning
summer before this they would keep m-w-f the same but do speed and agility on tue and thur but he said they had a problem with overuse injuries etc - i just laugh when he said this.
