brazil copacabana 14.42 bolt 150m straight

I thought he looked pretty sluggish.

This was probably his special endurance day of his weekly training

I thought he did too. And yet he still ran a 14.42, which was only .07 away from the 14.35 he ran in 2009 and we know how that year turned out. 100m split appears to be in the 9.9 range.

Comparing the brazil 14.42 to the uk 14.35, in terms of strides taken…the 14.42 took 58.5 strides whereas the 14.35 took 60 strides

Considering the difference in weather and what seems a favourable wind I would have thought he would have broken his 150m WR.

I was there…he arrived on thursday, 6.00 a.m…press conference, then on to a track with local youth team…the day after, again on the beach, young kids…saturday also, playing footvolley…on sunday morning…10 strides in flats…maybe a couple more fast…spikes on…1 block starts of 6 steps…nothing more to warm up on the track…then a very easy 14"42…impressive to say the least…

That is very good info the put his time and sluggish appearance into perspective.
Thanks.

I get the sense that bolt and alot of them jamaicans have a ‘greater training vocabulary/language’(to quote kelly starrett and relate to his
training terminologies). By ‘greater training vocabulary/language’, I mean the randomness and adhocness to complete sessions or training in totally different ways when on paper the session may read…6x180m or 10x20m…

In this 14.42 run he pretty much strided at 0.25 second frequency for the whole race.

58.5 strides(foot contacts) converts to 59.5 strides(knee raises or elbow raises to back)during this copacabana 150m run. 59.5 strides in 14.42 seconds equals average stride frequency of 0.242.

-the approximate time of 14.5seconds divided by 0.25seconds equals 58 strides(knees raised) for comparison to this brazil run.
-19.19seconds divided by 81 strides(knees raised) equals 0.236second average stride frequency during the berlin 200m.

It seems like he has some kind of ‘stable stride length maintenance’ maybe to 120m or 140m. I think hes working on 18.5x second 200m run to do in 2016 or 2017.
