I know she’s been back a while but it’s great to see little Ivet Lalova topping the podium again. She had that dreadful injury caused in a collision quite a few years ago now but for a while it seemed she might never run fast again.

Also the Caster Semenya situation remains of some interest. She continues to deny she has taken a course of “female hormones” or androgen blocking agents, but something certainly has changed during her 11 months on the sidelines and in the period since (no pun intended) and she is now back in the pack running times which her female opponents probably won’t object too much about. Then again it might all be a ruse and she might revert to her “former self” in time for Daegu world championships for a successful 800m title defence, but if the IAAF continues to monitor Caster closely then she will either stay within the realms of “normal” female 800m performances (1:57+) or will again suffer an “untimely injury, illness, family setback etc” in late August.

I’m sure others have noticed, but what about Jasuma Saidy Ndure’s left arm action in the latter stages of 200m races? Yikes- he looks like a 12 year old running at his first track meet. Is there some kind of biomechanical issue I’m not aware of?
