Let’s hear it for lane 6. Is anyone else getting the idea that you can assign the medals after the draw? Every place in the men’s final is by lane from 6 to 1, while the women’s is in order except for a switch between lanes 3 and 4.

men´s 200m final - Condon was given a false start, then he has a long discussion with the officials and reset his blocks and took a practice start. He ran in the final, and then the official results had him dq´ed. Was anyone there who can explain? The German commentators who are pretty knowledgable had no idea what was going on. It all seemed pretty wierd.

In 1997 reigning champion Geir Moen withdraw after the qualifying heats in a protest against the draw.

Moen regards his semifinal run at the worlds indoors in 95 as his best ever run indoors.
From lane 4 he beat John Regis running in lane 6 ,so as to get the better draw.

Carson,

The new rule allows an athlete to run under protest. This is what Condon did.

The BBC’s commentary here is the UK, were told that only if there was a technical fault, fault with the starter, etc, would an athlete be allow to run under protest.

Obviously, Condon has said something that has allowed him to run (albeit under protest).

What happened to Stacy Draglia?

After setting a new world indoor record earlier this year (4m79) she fails her opening height of 4m30 - whats up with that!

Not to mention losing her world record to her main rival - 4m80 by Svetlana Feofanova

Apparently Condon was spooked by a noise in the crowd - when u take that possibility into consideration the new start rule is pretty tough
Stacy had a bad day at work - shame the contest would have been interesting . That dark Russian gurls one sexy mama tho - erm from a purely sporting perspective of course .
