I read last year saying its too dangerous of something, but didnt really get it. Any ideas why he doesnt do it? What’s wrong with adding a 60m world indoor title?
They train through it. Ato said in an interview once that some athletes (such as himself) aren’t effective indoor runners because during this time you have 300-400 pounds on your back and are training at a high volume in prep to outdoors… In other words they are training so hard during the indoor season that they don’t want to stop and rest for meets… they mainly want to focus on outdoors. He mentioned for some people though, like Maurice G., have no problem training hard and running indoors. I think it depends on how much training you do indoors and when you start cutting volume back. For a lot of these guys the indoor training season would be during the build up phase for outdoors. Just my guess.
He is running the 100m next week, and will be in very low 10 zone, so what’s the problem with running the same race except at a 60m?
most hamstring injuries happen in the 60-80m zone.
o i see. also read he doesnt use much speed work in 60m zone either, so what type of max velocity speed work would he use then?
by improving his strength with the longer runs, his top speed improves and im sure he does some flys at times.
He doesn’t? Must be those fake 60s he was seen running in practice in 05/06/07.
