Seriously - it’s too low to protect him from getting colds and flu’s on a regular basis.
He ends up missing too many games etc.
I also think - and I’d love to hear anyone eles ideas - that slightly more BF might protect against injuries (bruising etc.) from diving on the ground or contact with other players???
wouldn’t you think added bodyfat would slow your goal keeper down? try adding layers of clothes! as for adding fat to protect against body contact i don’t think thats all that relevant. look at receivers in football. as along as his joint are healthy and strong he should be ok.
Do you want your goal keeper to gain body fat. So he can become so fat that he covers the whole of the goal and no one can score. (joke people)
Well if i was a coach of a team i would not want my keeper to gain weight. I would want him to be fast and flexible, and have good agility. And if it was something to do with the Irish weather i would just wrap the boy up tight.
But hey you are the coach!
23 sometimes people are naturally freaky-as in low bf%.ian mackie is one of these people who is just naturally lean.there are ways of packing on bf% but i’d leave him alone, hes lucky.as for the other chap he can loose bf% and can get down to 10% which is fine.
as for the diets, your correct.eating frequently is ideal but have the portions sorted out.the guy at 4.5bf should actually increase his muscle mass and maintain his bf% while on the other hand the guy with 12.5bf% will loose weight and bf.best of luck and keep us informed on how they are getting on
oh yeah 23,did you ever try L-Carnitine over the winter periods.this product which is available in tony quinns place across from who know whos clinic is great for elevating body temp and also decreasing bf%.expensive but works.
the other question about lower bf% causing bruising when hit…look at the NFL guys, premiership elite guys…can’t see any troubles with low bf at all
X I wish I had the keepers problem - I told him he was lucky - his “manager” has asked me to ‘put fat on him’ - what can I say?
Some people just don’t want to listen.
I’ve tried the L-Cart. myself - it’s good and there is CLA also and of course the ECA stck if you are pushed … it all comes back to the base diet though eventually.
yeah tell me bout it,you know that he has all his staff brain-washed…last year while down at your place i dropped in for L-Carn.the sales guy said he had great stuff for athletes.a well known hurdler was with me.he tried top sell us surum creatine which he said was only out…the dumb ****** i said, that stuff has been out for the past 5years.i eventaully said to him that i’d sell the trash to him:devil:
Increased intake of protein inorder to increase lean muscle mass is a mis-conception that many athletes/coaches have. The key to gaining muscle mass is a positive nitrogen belance, diets that are high in CHO maintain a positive nitrogen balance .Glucose is produced from CHO and not AAs. Essentially you dont want the body to breakdown protein to produce energy.
The size of the energy surplus will determine the rate at which weight gain occurs.
Increases in lean mass is related to hormonal responses to training. Heavier resisted exercise results in greater post exercise testosterone & GH spike.
