Charlie, My 15 year son is experiencing some intermittent pain under his foot around the arch. What makes it happen? Is it because of less flexibility or relative strength of his calves? Or poor running technique? Thanx.

Asking a medical advice over the internet is asking for trouble… Find a good orthoped and go and get that checked… This is the best advice!
A good sports medical doctor who has preferably worked with runners or running sports will sort it out. sounds like it could be plantar fascia inflammation. if so, it could be related to running shoes or (in case of a footballer) playing boots. important to get expert diagnosis, then a physiotherapist or podiatrist can provide appropriate help. Correct Diagnosis first, otherwise you eventually will end up spending more money and taking even longer to get over problem. Been there, done that
