WEINHEIM, Germany: Germany’s European Indoor 200 metres champion Tobias Unger on Saturday booked his place at this August’s World Championships in Osaka after making his come-back from injury.
The 27-year-old, who has spent the last 11 months recovering from an operation on his left achilles tendon, won the 200m with a time of 20.57 seconds in Weinheim, south-west Germany, to make the qualifying mark for Osaka this August.
``I am back and it is a lot better than I expected,’’ said the German 200m metres record-holder, who had to pull out of the 2006 European Championships with the foot problem.
Second was former 400 metre European champion Ingo Schultz who ran 21.01.
