Tempo runs

If I am training for a two mile run, would the total volume of each tempo run session be 2 miles?

then you can also work on longer reps in tempo too - and play with the recoverys to make it harder

You need to train like a middle distance (1500m)/5000m runner to race 2M.

Sprinters tempo runs are not the not the best way to do this. It should be a mixture of steady state continous aerobic runs and hard intervals. The balance between mileage and intensity is the classic distance running debate.
