One of my coaches told me this is useful, so asking it now from people who know it all is stretching (static) useful the day before the meet?
from my notes from CF seminar in Aus
Flexibility is imperative. You simply cannot achieve the necessary positions without it. Incorporate stretching as part of your warm up. A shortfall in flexibility should be addressed with stretching after a session however you have to do what is necessary. If an athlete is tight and you have to perform PNF or static stretching before a race then that is what you have to do. Better that than them trying to race as they were.
I don’t have a problem with it.
Can’t argue with Charlie anyway. I found it beneficial if I did an easy stretching session the day before or any an easy yoga session.
Not that I was inflexible just felt good after it.
Good advice, sure! But I was under the impression that this comment referred mainly to immediately before a race or a training session. Of course, you would still act the day before in any way possible…
yes it does but I took it as 'you gotta do what has to be done to run fast"
