Maurice is not really flicking the lead hand forward . Instead, it looks likes he’s concentrating more on driving the rear arm back. I think this might be related to Johm Smith’s drive phase emphasis on keeping the head and torso down at the beginning. If you drive the arms back forcefully, it causes the torso to stay bent over.
Flash, I think that the front on angle is deceptive. I really can’t reconcile the back arm focus. You would either overstride or end up on your head. I’ll try and fish up a side on. I seem to remember that he really shoots the front arm forward which in itself would keep him real low. Can’t really register in the front on GIF though as it is coming at you and I haven’t perfected 3D GIFs
You’re right, it is hard to see correctly head on. However, if you compare Mo’s lead arm action to Ben’s it is considerably different than Ben’s. Then again, just about everybody’s is.
i think there may be an overanalysis being done. i think mo’s arms are his focus, i don’t know if the skating action is deliberate or just him trying to gain control out of the blocks.
