Charlie and others.
I saw on Taper DVD that the athlete had a rest day 2 days out, and a short warm up + easy blocks the day before.
On CFTS, if my memory serves well, you had Ben doing nothing the day before.
Was that because he had “easy” qualification and QF the day after?
I suppose so, but would you have lower level athletes get a rest day ( also travel) the day before a comp, or always prefer to have a light shakeout?
Would a race prep workout done 2 days before too far away? ( mean just starts and maybe a few throws)
Thank you, also to Derek; the DVD is enjoyable like a real movie, other than providing lots of good infos.
Early season I perfer a full acc workout for ex: 4x15/3x25/2x35, then late season something like 4x20m and 2x5 mb throws.
Remember that the subject on the Taper DVD needed to score PBs right away to get out of the heats and Semis and into the finals- so the heats had to be the main peaking point even if the final suffered a bit. (No point being ready for a race you aren’t in!) If he had been a certain finalist, we would have switched the final sessions, allowing him to raise his tone to optimal through the first two races.
