power-clean help

This may sound ridiculous but whenever I do cleans and concentrate on keeping my arms straight I end up nearly casterating myself! When I explode during the clean the bar catches me under
my family jewells EVERY time, To compensate I have to hunch over the bar and keep it away from my body losing a pile of power, exactly the opposite of what your supposed to do. What am I doing wrong?? unfortunately I have no video footage.

Although I suspect that this may be a joke post, I’ll address it anyway:

There’s no way that you should be hitting that area of your body. Are you wearing underwear? (boxers are also not a good choice here)

I’m completely serious. It only happens when I concentrate on keeping my arms straight and drive with the legs, the bar brushes along my thighs and then wham. Its never a problem with the snatch.

Perhaps you can find some video on you tube of either (excuse spelling here) Khaki Khasiouilous or Pyros Dimas.

You’ll see that their legs acutally never reach true “triple extension”, and as the barbell brushes against their thighs, they’re already on the way down under the bar.

What I’m also trying to say is that the only time your arms should be straight is from the floor to right about the first 1-2 inches above your knee. If you’re waiting longer than that to begin the most explosive part of the pull, then you are waiting too long.

haha, it has happened to me before also…but only when i dont wear tights under my shorts/ pants…so just do that…lol

I think I get what your saying (begin the double knee bend sooner?) usually I just concentrate on maintaining back-arch and pulling explosively while keeping my arms straight and relaxed.

Could be a simple solution:D will do

get some Under Armor underwear, one size too small LMAO

Adjust your grip narrower or wider as is necessary.
