Powell sounds warning
KINGSTON (Jamaica): Jamaica’s 100 metre world record holder Asafa Powell warns his competition to expect some fireworks this season.
Powell, who was recently voted IAAF Male Athlete of the Year, said training is going so well that running faster is on the cards.
“Training is very hard, I am working really, really hard. I can just imagine what is going to happen this year,” he said.
“Because of all this hard work that I am putting in there are going to be some serious fireworks this year,” boasted Powell who trains regularly with 2005 and 2003 World Championships silver medallist Michael Frater.
“I want to run faster than I ever did, I want to win the world championships and I want to finish the season healthy,” said Powell who twice equalled his own world record of 9.77 in 2006. – AFP
