I would have asked a girl out sooner rather than wait. Now some other boy is dating her.
What I would have done differently:
-
more recovery time for my season-ending injury last year.
-
more training based on short 3 week blocks instead of 3-month cycles.
-
more flexibility and less slavish adherence to programs
-
more program revision based on evaluation of what I actually run in practice instead of what I’m supposed to be running according to my schedule.
-
the week is a very poor unit of time to use as the basis of a training cycle; it’s about time I stopped this whole rigid “monday = weights, tuesday = track, wednesday = weights” scheme. It winds up feeling either torturous because I’m squeezing too many workouts in a week, or too light because I’m putting in too few workouts. Planning on a basis of about 10 days feels a lot more natural.
What I would changed:
I would have asked myself what doing track then max weghts on alternate days Monday to Saturday was going to achieve apart from injury.
I would have converted to Charlies methods earlier.
