IS THIS JUST ANOTHER MEDIA APPOINTMENT/PR ATTEMPT?
Johnson ponders UK Athletics role
Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson has been approached about taking up a role with UK Athletics.
Johnson revealed he has talked to UK Athletics performance director Dave Collins about possible involvement.
“He has called me. Our assistants are talking. I like some of the things he said and he liked some of the things I said,” Johnson told BBC Sport.
“In the right situation, I’m certainly willing to help anyone where I think I could be a help and not a hindrance.”
Johnson, the 400m world record holder, has criticised British sprinters while appearing on BBC television as a pundit.
He could now help athletes such as Darren Campbell and Mark Lewis-Francis in the future.
Johnson said: "If asked to do that then I would look at the situation and assess it and see if I could be of help and if my help was needed or if I was just being courted to be quiet.
“I’m certainly willing to do that. In every situation your help is not necessarily needed or wanted and sometimes it’s not the right structure.”
The media will often only report when ex athlete A says something negative about current athlete B. A positive comment will often be ignored in the pursuit of controversy.
if i was one of the CW british sprinters i would be very annoyed with MJ.ok they had a disasterous CWG but thats rock bottom.
MJ should say…hey thats rock bottom but listen to me and i will help you. instead hes rubbing it in and making alot of noise with no game plan.
as athletes what you need is help if needed and not critizism and especially not from a guy who had zero character in track.nike had trouble with MJ in the pr department and the only solution was the golden shoes…
