High school’s fastest man is headed to Tallahassee.

ESPNU 150 athlete Marvin Bracy (Orlando, Fla./Boone) made his verbal commitment to Florida State on Thursday afternoon during a news conference at his school.

“Everything about FSU was the right fit for me,” Bracy said. “I had a great relationship with Coach [Rick] Trickett [the offensive line coach who recruits Orlando for the Seminoles], and we developed a strong bond. I always enjoyed my time there and I couldn’t ask for a better fit.”

The 5-foot-9, 168-pounder is ranked as the No. 14 athlete in the class. He is the Seminoles’ 14th verbal commitment and eighth in the ESPNU 150.

Bracy finished his junior season with nearly 1,500 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns but is known more for his prowess on the track.

He has swept the Class 4A 100- and 200-meter races at the Florida High School Athletic Association state championships. He also won the open 100-meter title at the FSU Relays in March and clocked a 10.05 in winning the 100-meter dash at the USA Track and Field Championships in Oregon.

Bracy had offers from Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, South Florida, Alabama and Nebraska but chose the Seminoles over a final group that included Florida, LSU and Texas A&M. Bracy was in attendance at FSU’s spring game in April.

“I think the things that Coach [Jimbo] Fisher did as a first-year head coach really show where the program is headed,” said Bracy, who also plans to run track at FSU.

The Seminoles currently have the second-ranked class in the nation.
