What has happened to Shawn Crawford the last couple of years?
Whereas Gatlin has progressed he appears to have stalled or possibly even regressed.

Carter will be running a 19.4 in 5 years or less.
However, I don’t understand,
how he could run a 20.13 in the 200
2 months before,
and then pull a 19.63 out of his ass.
there is somthing wrong with the timing systems this year.
like you said, Justin gatlin is at a stall, and possibley even regressing,
but runs a 9.88 as his fastest time,
with a GREAT start,
and then with an uber mediocere start,
he runs a 9.76? I call bull**** on that.
However Xavier carter,
SMOKED wallace spearmon.
BUT,
that didn’t look anywhere near one of his great preformances. that, was probably a 20.15 or higher race, and the fastest that the X-man could have ran WAS a 19.85 -19.90
I need a 19.63 out of the X-man,
at least twice more to prove he can do these kinds of things.
AS FOR SPEARMON,
I think, that he thought, that it would be an easy race for these 3 reasons.

  1. He’s beaten Tyson gay in the 200 3 out of 4 times.

  2. Xavier carter is a sophomore in college.

  3. He’d already beaten Usain Bolt, his closest competition thus far, by .20 seconds.

Xmans closing speed seemed very fast to me. well done to him

Sorry if I was unclear in my post, I meant that Crawford appears to be stalled not Gatlin. If I recall right, at 04 OG Crawford was ranked ahead of Gatlin.

I disagree with the timing statement Ato Boldon

I was not surprised at all that Gay took Spearmon in the race and everyone on the corner. If we lined up all the best 100 runners in the world right now including Gatlin and Powell, Gay would probably be 3rd. His top speed is incredible but he just couldn’t finish against a 400 guy like Carter.

But ya Spearmon thought he had it in the bag. You could tell by how cocky he looked before the race and for good reason, he was tied for #1 in the world. If you see the reply he had Bolt and probably would have been 19.8 low-mid but he eased in to the line probably because of ego, I can’t say I haven’t done the same thing more then once this year when I didn’t do as well as I expected.

All in all good race for Carter, Gay and Bolt. I can see Carter challenging for the record next year. I mean remember, this will be his first year training year round and not playing football, imagine what he’ll be able to go next summer

its interesting that you ask what happened to Crawford. I have wondered also. They have the same coach for bunyuns sake

Pull that kid off the starting line up until he gets it corrected. Its bad for his confidence to lose so convincingly, so publically, so often.
Let him get it corrected.

Just imagine when Carter learns how to run correctly! Unreal performance. Gay made a mistake too by slowing down for a second, possibly thinking that he was winning…and then the X-man had him… unreal!

Well done!

alls i would say to that is that if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. Some coaches will though. And some coaches will do fine so long as there is nothing broke, But when it is broke, they have demonstrated a lack of capacity to fix it.

Man you must know Wallace by the sounds of this post…did you talk to him at any point during the meet.

It’s a shock that someone running low 20 points after 7 or 8 races in two days can run much faster without the extra work beforehand?
“Prob ran a 20.15” but beat those guys anyway?
Were all his competitors personal bests fixed too?
You need to see two more to believe it? Why would you believe the “two more” times any more than this one?
You call BS on Gatlin? He can beat everyone every time but can’t run as fast? Huh?

BTW, just heard that X-man is racing Wariner over 400m next. Wil be interesting to say the least.

Charlie-
I trust you are right in your analysis, but Carter didn’t run any 200m races at NCAA’s–he did the 100, 400, 4x100, and 4x400.

Although, 10.08 (into headwind) and 44.5x is probably the best 100/400 double in the same meet (he also ran the 4x4 not long after!).

The list of competitors for the 400m Friday 14th. FULLY LOADED.

Awesome. Four people at 19.9 or lower. My goodness gracious. What is the world coming to!

I strongly disagree with any statement that lends support to anything other than X-man being an absolute dynamo of talent. I remember him as a sophmore in high school winning 100, 200 and 400. He is just incredible.

All these guys are. Why would someone question the times of people like Carter, Gay, Spearmon, Bolt, Gatlin(?) etc. In answer to my earlier rhetorical question (What is the world coming to!)-the answer is …evolution.

Just a phenomenal , phenomenal race by a group of monster talents.

drool too bad I’ll miss the race

Don’t sleep on Andrew Rock. It will be a super event any way you look at it! Who needs an Olympics/WC year when you have can setup a race like this?

I want to see Powwel gatlin and cater over the 200. Asafa jogged the last 50 meters of 19.8. That would be a awsome matchup

My call on the race:

  1. Wariner
  2. Carter
  3. Rock
  4. Spearmon

Lets see how it turns out:)

“The questioning of other peoples abilities suggest nothing but the lack of confidence in your own.”
