Knee bend?

Ive just been reading an old thread on ideal knee bend during support phase. Is the below statement correct?–

‘i think theoretically the best angle would be 180 degrees or perfectly straight. of course this isnt possible so the closest you could get to that would be better. the closer to 180 the better you are able to absorb the impact and thus transfer the energy back into the ground(ie plyometric strength). the more the bend the farther your hips will dip as well.’

So should we be striving for the least possible knee bend???

Thanks

I’m not sure you can control it ? the more power you have the less its going to bend… i wish i could keep it straight…

Yeah, thats what i thought. You cant consciously control it, but you ideally want as little bend as possible (strength training reduces knee bend)? Am i right???

So when doing depth jumps or depth drops, would a person also consciously think about minimizing knee bend and force as little knee bend as possible ?

I don’t necessarily think you have to consciously try to keep the knees straight. Let the knees do what they have to in order to properly absorb the impact forces. Let the movement happen naturally. But I think being aware of how much your knees are having to bend is a good feedback mechanism to determine if the drop height is too much. Thoughts?

from my understanding, you want as little knee bend as possible to keep your hips high
