'Jesus' appears on Sydney train platform

Just to prove that australia is getting more american everyday comes this story from sydney.

The faithful and inquisitive have converged on a Sydney railway station after an image appeared on a platform wall.
Some believers say the image is of Jesus Christ, but even the Church isn’t convinced.

Beneath platform two at Waverton station, the image has created quite a stir.

“Hallelujah! He is coming, our great Lord,” one woman shouted at the station today. “I believe in my heart that the time is coming.”

A commuter first spotted the image on a citybound train.

The plausible explanation is eroded white paint, but church leaders are open-minded about the ‘Waverton Messiah’.

“As long as it doesn’t get an over-layer of too much meaning,” Sister Pat Malone of St Joseph’s Catholic Church said.

Reverend Andrew Leslie of North Sydney Anglican Church said wasn’t sure either.

“Although Christians look forward to one day seeing Jesus face-to-face, we can never be certain that any image like that is authentic,” Rev Leslie said.

Whether or not you actually believe Jesus has arrived on the North Shore line, station staff have been taking safety very seriously, making sure no-one gets close enough to meet their maker when trains pass through.
