How to progress a kid in the beginning?

This is a sort of “life timeline” question. What would be the “optimal” way to train and treat a kid from the beginning until right before college to be a 100m-200m sprinter?

As in, what should he be doing between the ages of:

0-4:
4-10:
10-14:
14-18:
*an example, you can shorten or lengthen the time periods as need be.

Or something similar to that. This is related to what sport type stuff he should be focusing on and other aspects that would help him.

I have read somewhere it was recommended at a young age that youngsters should be doing gymnastics, swimming, and sprinting during different seasons (I believe Charlie said it, I could be wrong though). I also read in Charlie’s book, he recommended keeping things fun in the beginning as well.

Anyways, anyone knowledgeable on the time line of things, if you could give me an overview, I’d appreciate it.

Sorry, I don’t feel that video specifically address’s my question. Anyone else?

buy the dvd before you make such comments, it has all the answers to your questions, no one of this forum has the time to answer all those questions when cf goes in detail with graphs in the dvd.

Charlie’s model in the download or the LTAD model are pretty good examples (www.ltad.ca). After about 15 you may start to look at Charlie’s ideas of from “right to left”, and volume intensity interplay, as explained in the Van’02 download (no longer available) and the Van’04 download (still around) or at any of the seminars he puts on.

Thanks for that TomCat.

Question about the Edmonton GPP video. What exactly is on it related to this question? And what graph’s are included in this thing as well? Thanks for any information.
