What was the temperature?

Would be interesting to hear what sort of race Olu ran.

It would be good if PJ had a Postcard from the circuit thread so there is an ongoing single point of reference.

MARION IN HENGELO beating Angela Williams (also USA)

yeah,
Olu’s 10,33 isnt so good.

Could this also be sth like “late-effects” from his 9,85?

I’d be tipping he shut down early as a precuation against what Marion described as “freezing” weather conditions in Holland.

it’s obvious from the pic above she dressed for the conditions :stuck_out_tongue:

i see the meeting on TV
The weather was freeze (fans put on sweatshirts) and maybe track is not fast (it’s good for middle distances).
For female race, it was a problem with the start (i think for the wind detector, anemometer), so sprinters had to wait some minutes before starting

He did indeed shut down after 90m. The start didn’t look like him at all and may be because of all the false starts. He couldn’t keep himself from showing how frustrated he was after the first false start.
I dont know what PJ may think but to me it looks like he was just making sure he wins the race in really really poor conditions and a weak field.

and what about kim collins?
At second reading i saw that he was running…

I was in hengelo,

The weatter wasn’t good.
about 14 celsius and a cold wind.
The 100 had a tailwind the whole day. All national races that were ran that day had PB’s so the weather couldn’t be that bad for the 100.

Marian was great to see, nice time of 11.16.
Olu was not goo dto see, going good until 60 m than ya could see he was cruising just fast enough to win the race in 10.33.
the 2nd man did ran a SB.

I agree hengelo isn’t the fastes track around, but many athletes run good there on the sprints(national levels)

National sprinters ran well because they are used to their local conditions. We are talking about African sprinters. Women had to wait too long before the blocks, and men had several false starts. Marion is obviously in a sub11 shape from what i’ve seen in her training the day before and during the warm-up. They were all frozen, it was even colder inside than outside the stadium. I had to give my coat to Olu (i got a cold now). Reaction time was 0.190. Couldn’t move the arms. Lost control of the legs after 60m. Stop 10m before the line. Didn’t tried to push the whole race as cramp would have come. He was actually more concerned about what will happen in Eugene and didn’t go to sleep until he found the results (about 1AM).

PJ,

It’s a good thing Olu is still OK.
More races to come for him I guess.
Keep up the good work

What was his reaction to what them?

He haven’t seen the races, just the results, but he wasn’t surprised. He was more impressed by Carson race with all the 10.0 guys.
