Greene may run US Indoor 60 title

NEW YORK, Feb 6 (AFP) - Olympic 100m champion MauriceGreene is considering just one indoor appearance thisseason, in the 60m at the US indoor championships thismonth, his manager said here on Friday.
I doubt he runs indoors, although it's possiblehe'll run at the (indoor) Nationals,'' said EmanuelHudson, who was in attendance at Friday's Millrose Gamesindoor meeting. He says that if he runs 6.42 (at the USchampionships), he’ll go to Budapest,’’ added Hudson,referring to the world indoor championships to be heldin Hungary in March.
Greene, 29, set the 60m world record of 6.39sec onFebruary 3, 1998, at the world indoor championships inMadrid.
He equaled that time in the semi-finals of the USchampionships in 2001.
In three 60m outings last season, Greene was beatentwice and posted a top time of 6.50sec. He didn’t racein the US indoor championships.
Greene is currently training in California with thegroup guided by John Smith. His main focus is on thedefence of his Olympic 100m title. He surrendered the100m world title in Paris last year.
