Getting into Long Jump

Hey guys, im back if anyone here remembers me

i have been out of the track and field scene, so to speak, for the last couple years as ive been focusing on football (AFL). i am mid-way through the season, and once the season ends, i want to get into long jump.

i am 20 years old, and my PB in high school was around 5.36m, that was two years ago.

My question/s are…

  1. how do i go about finding an athletic club to train/compete with? im in Australia. (If you have a way to find a club, and need some more information, just post here or pm)

  2. What are my chances of taking my long jump somewhere?

umm thats it for now.

thanks for any replies

i suggest getting in touch with th austrailian athletics assosiation in terms of clubs etc…

as for if you can take it anywhere…kinda depends on many factors, speed, strength, elastic abilities, height/weight, how much time you want to dedicate to training and the lifestyle needed to be great etc etc…

to put it in perspective. 8.73m is the world lead right now, you need to jump upwards on 7.70m to have a chance of making some money with it, and need to be over 8m to get into big meets…

Also i think there are many Australian jumpers jumping between the ranges of 7.50m-8m.

So that should give you a little insight…
