esp if he’s trying to be an engineer, then its a great school.
u looked real good in the prelims man
but wow in the finals, you looked completely diff.
u didnt get out very well at all, and in the 60, it was over after that.
oh and i was warming up in the green room with u for a bit before i had to jump, but wow you are a scary looking motherfucker. haha!
PS- thanks for winning your prelim, i won 5 bucks off of you because no one thought the bigass white kid was going to win haha (except for me who knew who u were)
Yeah I felt intimidated in the finals of the 60. Spearmon and myself talked for a while afterwards and he just said I need to be more confident. He said he was intimidated by me and I shouldn’t just be “happy to be there”.
So I look scary huh? Well that would be good if that allowed me to win I guess. I am looking forward to going back to UK this weekend. I haven’t seen the video of the 60 or the 200 yet so I am unsure what to really focus on this week but I am sure in teh 60 my firts 20 meters was bad… especially in finals.
Glad you won 5 bucks
I did get smashed by Kurt Angle on that show… he is a scary dude, I have nightmares about him pulling off my pants. lol
Haha. I was intimidated of Kurt Angle just watching him on the couch. I would have liked to see you go against Jimmy Smith 1on1, without a doubt you would have had a better chance of stopping him than those other Joes. And I wouldn’t consider you a “Joe” anymore since you are competing against world class athletes now.
If you were mad, you’d be one scary mofo! You’re extremely fast, so the old trick of outrunning the big guy doesn’t apply :). As for size/strength, well…
what kind of lifting did you do while you didn´t trained?
Ok so I planned on being at UK this weekend but the posted today no non college runners at this meet. It sucks they waited till today to say something. I ended up getting into a meet at IU/ Bloomington. It is another 200m mondo banked track pretty similar to Arkansas. They actually have the prelims… semi’s and finals for the 60 though which is cool. It’s hard not to get a good race together if you have three chances at it.
Can you provide any more information about how many races you “need” to run to receive any funding or financial help?
Theres an IAAF point system and the points are primarily based on the time you run in an event. You have to post 6 times in either the 60 or the 100 “same event as far as ranking” in order to get scored for the IAAF. They then weight and score the 6 times and rank them amongst the other athletes in the world. I have to be top 25 in order to get a OJOP posistion. Home Depot offers these programs as well as a few other companies. You basically work a low stress 20 hours a week and get paid for 40.
As far as other money unless I run 6.5x I wont get anything until I hit sub 10.1x to 10.0x outdoor. It’s a tough battle to earn money in the sport of track and field no doubt.

I run against samuels in the 200 then Spearmon in the 60. Terrible starts in the 60’s. I think my top end speed is better then Spearmons as of right now though which is positive
Yeah, I would say if your top speed is better than Spearmon’s at the moment that would be a positive. LOL! Isn’t he what, one of the fasted 200m mfer’s in the world? I would say you are in good company!
You do have a pissed look about you in photos. So what, if I was 6’4 200+ and at one of these meets I would pull Linford Christie antics all day long.
I am sure your coach will tighten up the start. It’s an understatement to say he knows what he is doing.
j-mee’s form has never been that nice for a one time sub 10.1 guy, but it really seems to have gone to shit, espically in the last 50 or so meters of the 200 there. sad sight. also alot of his old basicly raw explosiveness(for lack of a better discriptive term is lacking).
i know this thread is about d-rob, but sucks to see one of the all time high school bad asses running slow for the third year in a row.
Wow Dallas! You did pretty well against angle in that match! how did that match come about by the way?
It was a long process to get on the show… I basically saw an open casting call on TV and went online and submitted an application… that led to me being on teh show 3 months later.
Ok so I ran at IU and ran a 6.70… and then a 21.30 out of lane 4. I won both of them by a considerable margin. I left feeling frustrated and wondering why I had hit a wall. I took this week off training other then 5x50 excelerations to 90% on the track Tuesday. I was out in California meeting with HPC and I actually met with Asics… Great guys by the way. They said they are in the same boat as everyone else. They want to see what I can do outdoors before there will be a commitment.
So I got back at 3:00 am Friday morning and planned on going to a local masters/ open meet that Casey Combest ran in two weeks ago. The facility is about 1 1/2 hours from my house. Casey ran a 6.30 there if I remember correctly. He is currently trying to make a come back and has ran 6.91 in the 60m this year if I am not mistaken. None the less I head up there with a local master athlete and get there 20 minutes before teh 55m starts. I barely warmed up and I knew there were going to be prelims and finals so I basically 75% the prelims and qualified I believe with a 6.4 or.5x I seeded second. So I warmed up for 30 more minutes then they started the finals. It was myself another 17 year old kid… probably a 10.8 guy and 4 40 year old masters… kind of funny!
I got a great jump on the gun and ran really well. I felt really responsive and might I say fresh… any how I ran a… get this crap… 6.10! There were 3 USATF officials there and they even went back and measured the track to make sure… I know the system was accurate because everyone else in my heat ran very consistant with there prelim times and their times from a few weeks ago. The timer and the FAT timing system is used at every major event in the area… So what does a 6.10 convert to and should I credit this to the rest that I had?
Thanks ya’ll
Dallas
I would say thats about a mid 6.5 give or take probably a little bit under the mid mark.
Anyway I would just like to be the first to say, HOLY SHIT that is amazing.
And if I were to chalk it up to anything at the moment I would say it is the dude upstairs you have been thanking all along. But I am sure the rest was much needed after the last couple weeks.
Hopefully your still considering the US Championships.
Congratulations. That is a great time.
Do you know how long it takes you to run 10m at top speed right now? I recall it is pretty quick.
If we assume your top speed right now is somewhere around 0.86-0.88 for a 10m segment, and that you are going to be pretty much at top speed between 55m and 60m, adding half those times gives an estimation of 6.53 - 6.54.
Things don’t always work out so perfectly as my calculations, so don’t take these numbers to be precise. At the slowest, you probably would have run 6.56 to the 60m mark without a stumble. That would be at the pace of 0.92s per 10m for an extra 5m.
I can’t speak to why you got much quicker for this race and whether it was related to the rest.
Awesome time… my only question would be this:
Casey ran a 6.2x a few weeks ago (everyone PR’d, though were definitely ‘consistent’ with their prelims and finals) then went and ran 6.9 and 7.0 in the 60m at another facility just a week later after predicting 6.7.
You are Drob though and have run 6.6x legitimately, so of course it’s possible that you just had a huge PR. I hope that’s the case, but I would definitely be a little suspect of the meet if it was the same one where Casey ran his 6.2 or whatever it was…
the 6.53 puts Drob at world lead, 6.57 tied for #5 prefomer.
fwiw, google said mulitiply by 1.0695 which makes 6.523 which rounds to 6.53.
