Tyson Gay will take to the streets of Manchester on Sunday aiming to break Usain Bolt’s record time.
Gay set a world best time over a straight 200m last year with a sizzling 19.41sec. This time around he is attacking the 150m mark set by Olympic 100m champion and world record holder Bolt.
The Jamaican superstar ran 14.35sec in the inaugural CityGames in Manchester two years ago.
The pair have a tasty sprint rivalry, with American runner Gay ending Bolt’s winning streak last summer.
Brits Marlon Devonish and Christian Malcolm also feature in the sprint line-up, while the golden girl of British athletics Jess Ennis will be taking on the women’s 150m event.
The races will take place on a specially built four-lane track running down Deansgate in the heart of Manchester.
It is a big day of sport in the city, which will also see 38,000 amateur runners competing in the Bupa Great Manchester Run, with Gebrselassie the big name draw for the elite event.
