for fun

Barb had 2 more jumpers win at school, one has been accepted into a sports school next year.

Peter won the 400, first time he has placed at school.

Zac doesn’t go to zone for 100, his starting blocks “took off” and he was 1m behind at the start. Finished second, 2 heats no final.

The other girl Mona broke the zone hj record

Looks like Seb will be going to Westfields High School, fourth time lucky. He is now over the broken ankle so should run and jump well for my mate Dan Suchy.

Made the relay, think he ended up no 2 in 100 at CIS.
NSW Allschools asked if I would mind if he dropped the 100m and concentrated oh hj. I sais if you don’t mind wasting my time so be it.

Current-----won 100 at School and now wants to win CHS 100m and I recon he can pull it off.

Mikayla trains with Josh tuesdays, her dad Con has been training her, won her first national title at 9, now 13. Con still trains her as always and I teach her how to run fast and hurdle. She has not hurdled since she was 9, scared of them. Andrew Murphy as her long jump coach was asked first if he had a problem with me sprints/hurdles, she is thinking of doing multi events.a
She said when asked to fill in forms that ask if male or female she will write athlete. All I said was stop acting like a girl and start being an athlete. She laughed when I called Josh princess, not on the form either.

How can he win CHS when he goes to Barker College, which is a CAS school.

Josh plays baseball/pitcher, his dad has been training him and passed him up the line, white socks, off to hawaii.? Rep Aust in some junior comp. Dad said last game 1st batter striked out and coach walks to him on mound and said quitley in his ear, stop smiling you don’t do that in baseball. Problem is I tell him to smile all the time, even when you mess up, no one but you know.

Stand corrected. combined Associated Schools. One of the strongest competitions in the state. The grandstands at SOPAC are packed full.

Hasn’t he grown 6’2" at 15.

He was carrying injuries well before he came to us.

He will be competing 2 events at region and state for Schools, 100m and discus.

There has never been a 16 year world champion he will not be the first.

Broke school 100m and lj records. Not pb’s but very close at the start of season. There will be an improvement for age time in the performance, will use for starting point.

Have received comments from other coaches about Josh, all positive and appreciated, except today twhen some twit stopped him during training and started talking about himself.

Josh today, warm up, exercises, started foam hurdles one leg whan he said his hammies were a bit sore after training with school coach, stopped plyos and ran 400, 300, 200, 100. Walk the grass with water bottle recovery. 100 timed 11.20, 10 minutes active recovery 100 10.91.

Last week 16th birthday party.
Next week baseball in Hawaii for 2 weeks, gets back and school coaching camp for a weekend. Then a week in QLD for baseball comp

His goal is win CAS and break the 100m record which has stood for 50+ years. He asked me if I could do it, says he is up to it.
Will also run NSW All Schools 100m.
30m best 3.75.
Felt sick before the first 100, did not throw up.
Saw his water bottle today, Suzie Sinclair would appreciate the brand of water

I told Mike Hurst this kid has the fasted legs I have ever seen, if he is at SOPAC next week I hope to catch up.

A former Ukranian Olympian judo will be training boxing and hopefully judo.

My sprint coaching is much like the old judo teachers, 5 years of judo myself when I was a kid.

His mum says line up

Jersey today, foam hurdles one leg 26, 1030m chair runs, 400,300,200,100, walk grass with water bottle recovery. 100m timed 11.21.
Yesterday 21060 second 10 with sled.
Said he can feel the step working, now to get it to happen

Talking to Ray Russell, we attended a coaching course years back. He smiled when he said he had two athletes going to the World Youth competing in shot and javelin. He smiled again when he said Alex Kennedy who he coached from 8 was his first to qualify, she chose rep in netball over athletics that year (captain of Aust U16 team), she moved on to another coach.

I have to thank Mike Hurst for his positive comments about a lad I was coaching. Mike waited until I was alone before we had a chat.

This is the first time in 25+ years of coaching another coach has done this to me. Normally they approach the kid or their parents.

I would like to say I support Mike and his 400 programme, it looks like he is not getting between athletes and coaches.

When I walked from Carra Onley years back, Warren Medcalf rang me and asked if he could coach her. Warren has been the head event coach at the NT Institute, Nova Perris made rep honors with her coach here.

The best person I know to fill the Australian Team coach position, given they are seeking a new coach.

Should have said Olympic Youth. It’s a bugger to get old.

CHS State titles.

Zac 3rd in multi, won 110 hurdles

Seb 3rd 110 hurdles, won 100m, this is what Suchy starts with.

Barbs jumpers won.

A bit of a CNS overload with my work and baseball training, 3 days in the school gym for a couple of hours 3 days a week plus school coaches 3 times a week. In Hawaii he spent 5 days in bed with flue. Last 3 weeks baseball has stopped for 2 weeks, gym stopped completely, 45 minutes 2 days a week with me. If he had not backed off possible glandular fever or fatigue.

Today CAS?
22.98 200m
11.19 100m
